Building our Dementia friendly community (1).png

Across Rushcliffe PCN we are aiming for all our partners to become Dementia Friendly

As part of the Rushcliffe Dementia Project 2022-2024, all partners of the Rushcliffe Primary Care Network, agreed to work to become Dementia Friendly. To encourage this, we set up a list of actions:

· Taking part in Dementia Friends Information Session (for more information scroll to the bottom section).

· Undertake Carers Awareness Training

· If appropriate, consider an environmental walkthrough of any premises used/owned

· Become a member of Rushcliffe Dementia Action Network (RDAN)

· Identify an Organisation link/Champion to move these actions forward

Rushcliffe Dementia Directory

The majority of support and information available in Rushcliffe can be found in the Rushcliffe Dementia Directory.

This can be accessed sitting alongside a range of comprehensive Health Directories found on the Social Prescribing Tab

(Health Directories | RushcliffeHealth)

Some of the topics covered in the Directory include:

· Local Community Groups (Memory Cafes, Singing, exercise etc)

· Benefits and Legal advice

· Sourcing equipment to maintain independence

· Living Well with dementia at Home

· Support for Carers including respite

Rushcliffe Dementia Action Network (RDAN)

Charity Number: 1210657

Across Rushcliffe there are many groups organisations and individuals with the shared aim to improve life for those affected by dementia, including carers.

A response to this has been to form a Network: Rushcliffe Dementia Action Network (RDAN). This recently became a charity (Registered Charity:1210657). This allows the work of the Network to be more sustainable, for example raising funds to put on events (Dementia and Carers Roadshow, Green Memory Café etc) and provide resources, ensuring the Dementia Directory stays as up to date as possible.

More information can be found on RDAN’s website: Rushcliffe Dementia Action Network |

Hidden Disabilities

To maintain independence and get out and about in your community, perhaps consider wearing a Sunflower Lanyard to show you have a Hidden Disability, in this case, dementia.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a simple tool for you to voluntarily share that you have a hidden disability or condition that may not be immediately apparent – and that you may need a helping hand, understanding or more time in shops, at work, on transport or in public spaces.

You can buy your Sunflower lanyard here : Hidden Disabilities Sunflower (hdsunflower.com) These may be available free of charge from certain major stores (eg Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys - ask at Customer Service Desk).
